{"id":376,"date":"2015-05-07T18:58:42","date_gmt":"2015-05-07T23:58:42","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.irregulardays.com\/words\/?p=376"},"modified":"2015-05-07T21:06:03","modified_gmt":"2015-05-08T02:06:03","slug":"the-minnow-and-the-fox","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.irregulardays.com\/words\/?p=376","title":{"rendered":"The Minnow and the Fox"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>There once was a strange little minnow who loved to sing.<br \/>\nHer mother was a singer too, like bells her voice did ring.<br \/>\nBut the blibs and the blubs of the river tongue were hard to use.<br \/>\nThe minnow wanted to go up on land, and maybe even wear shoes!<\/p>\n<p>But the minnow was not ready, or so her mother did fear.<br \/>\nThe minnow practiced and her voice became ever so pure!<br \/>\n&#8220;I suppose I must let you go&#8221; her mother eventually did say.<br \/>\nSo the minnow adventured out upon land that very same day!<\/p>\n<p>She flipped and she flopped and she bumbled and bopped.<br \/>\nEvery fish out of water at first flails like a flounder.<br \/>\nBut the minnow had faith in herself and never stopped.<br \/>\nSo she wandered the woods until a clearing did surround her.<\/p>\n<p>The people, they went this way and that,<br \/>\nThis place had everything, even stores of nice hats!<br \/>\nThe minnow sang in the center with all she could,<br \/>\nAnd as she sang another soul did exit the wood.<\/p>\n<p>A handsome young fox rode forth on his steed.<br \/>\nA fox of fortitude, who always did good deeds!<br \/>\nThe fox&#8217;s keen ears caught wind of her song,<br \/>\nand he listened intently and even hummed along!<\/p>\n<p>The minnow and the fox, they sure hit if off.<br \/>\nBest friends they became, and at danger they did scoff!<br \/>\nThey traveled the world from east to west<br \/>\nAt righting all wrongs, they were surely the best!<\/p>\n<p>But things have a way of changing, and for the minnow changes never hid.<br \/>\nThe two had an argument over if it was really good that she did.<br \/>\nSo the two parted ways and the minnow was lost<br \/>\nAs she wandered her once lovely songs became chilled with frost.<\/p>\n<p>The minnow flopped right into a trap, a hunter&#8217;s snare<br \/>\nThe minnow was placed in an empty cell, at the walls she did stare.<br \/>\nTo the castle of a general she was soon sold.<br \/>\nThe minnow had lost her way, she was no longer bold.<\/p>\n<p>She went to meet the master of this old castle<br \/>\nThis all really was well and dearly a hassle<br \/>\nit turned out he was a snake the size of a horse!<br \/>\nAnd he had a thing for young minnows, oh! of course!<\/p>\n<p>Here the minnow met 3 of her own.<br \/>\nLost sisters she had never even known.<br \/>\nShe knew then that she would have to fight back,<br \/>\nbut she had no idea for a plan of attack.<\/p>\n<p>But in burst the fox with his mighty spear,<br \/>\nHe easily knocked that bad snake on his equivalent of a rear!<br \/>\nHe slew that evil in one clean thrust.<br \/>\nThe minnow never lost faith, in the fox she would always trust.<\/p>\n<p>The others were set free, but the fox and the minnow remained.<br \/>\nHe took her by the hand, jumped on his horse and grabbed the reigns.<br \/>\nThey rode off just as the night was getting late,<br \/>\nand so the minnow said &#8220;I think this counts as our first date!&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Their love would last a lifetime, it was oh so true.<br \/>\nThey traveled together and time sure flew!<br \/>\nOnce the fox was willing to retire and put down his lance,<br \/>\nThe pair opened a tavern to entertain with wine, song and dance!<\/p>\n<p>And when the minnow finally saw her dear mother again,<br \/>\nThe mother no longer saw a bumbling daughter, but an equal. A friend!<br \/>\nThus ends our tale of Ms. Minnow and Sir Fox, it will never get old.<br \/>\nNow its time for you, the crowd, to shower me with fresh apples and gold!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>There once was a strange little minnow who loved to sing.
